Why We Choose Jesus Every Day

“My prayer is that you’ll stay with Jesus long enough for Him to remove all your fears.”  (Silverwind)

One of the most important things people want to know is that Jesus is with them.   The fact that He knows all about any situation we may find ourselves in is so comforting and reassuring.  Yes, He’s with us, always…

We’d both had nervous breakdowns.  We were confused, frustrated, embarrassed, sinking in self-pity, frantic, stressed, striving, angry, bitter, fearful, scared, stuck in generational sins, had debilitating health issues (decades later, we would discover that I (Mark) had severe PTSD) with nothing seeming to work out for us, we had no hope, and were on food stamps and welfare…We were trapped, emotional prisoners to these, seemingly, drowning conditions and circumstances.  It was taking a toll on our marriage and family.

And, we were “Christians” who, along with many other denominational Christians (even my very surprised Baptist parents) had recently experienced an unmistakable outpouring of the Holy Spirit in a tiny Mexican church in the San Fernando Valley of Southern California.

This was our life until Jesus, in His mercy, began to reveal Himself to our troubled hearts.

Jesus stepped into our desperate situation (our storm) by moving us to Oregon where He had us discover an amazing church.  Next, God showed us we needed to start memorizing specific Bible verses, scriptures that would address and heal our present state of mind.  We were to learn to apply His truths over time, line upon line.

Soon, we had verses taped up everywhere in our home.  We were memorizing and speaking them out loud to each other.  Relief began to take place in our minds and hearts.  Although our circumstances weren’t changing, for the first time we had hope.  We can’t convey how wonderful this was.

This is how Choosing Jesus Every Day began in our lives, and continues to this day.  We know we must choose Jesus – the way, the truth and the life – every day in order to live in victory, free from the potential emotional, physical and spiritual destruction circumstances can bring.

We’re truly being set free like the Apostle Paul was when he learned to be content whether he was abased or abounding.  Jesus’ contentment is everything.

God promises to give us joy no matter what.  The joy of the Lord (which we’ve found is not subject to conditions) is truly our strength.

Choose Jesus every day.  He will change you.

“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty…He shall call upon me, and I will answer him:  I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.  With long life will I satisfy him, and show him my salvation.”
Psalm 91:1; 15-16

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you:  not as the world giveth, give I unto you.  Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
John 14:27

Oh precious one reading this just now, let Jesus complete His work in you…

I (Mark) know the following is another older song, but I still play it all the time.  In fact I put it on “Loop” (Right-click>Loop) for hours.  Fills the home with joy.  I sing along with it because it really lifts my spirit and gives me God’s proper perspective each day.  God is good all the time, all the time, God is good!  ☺
