James 1:22

In our living area, if you’re caught rolling a stop sign, it will cost you somewhere between $400 and $500 – one person actually got caught rolling the same stop sign twice in the same day.  Ouch!

We’re careful to come to a complete stop at every stop sign.  It’s good practice…☺

Thanks to God’s faithfulness, I’m finding that I’m doing more and more of what God’s Word says to “do” and it’s bringing more of the fruit of the Spirit into my life.  Doing God’s Word is bringing me more peace, rest and joy.

I read James 1:22 today and started thinking about God’s Word and what a blessing it is when I do what it says to do.  It isn’t always easy to “do” the Word, but doing it will always cover my life in the end.

Seems like many people today aren’t aware of cause and effect.  I’m hearing more and more pastors and Christian teachers voice this.

“But that person really hurt me, Lord.  Why should I forgive them?”  Ever felt that way?

Then the Lord said to me, “You have seen well, for I am watching over my word to perform it.”
Jeremiah 1:12

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
James 1:22

If I “do” the Word, I won’t be deceived and I won’t reap the consequences of sin, of missing God’s mark, the way of living this life He knows will bless me.  His ways protect me when I’m “doing” His Word.

Seems like the only time I get in trouble is when I’m not doing the Word.  I’m thankful that God reminds me to “do” the Word.

When we do the Word, Jesus backs up our actions (Jeremiah 1:12), and the outcome will always be a blessing.

God bless,

Mark
