To Live The Abundant Life, I Have To Choose Jesus Every Day

I looked at Annie this morning during our coffee time and thought, “She needs me to pick the Spirit right now and to not give into my weak flesh. She deserves for me to choose Jesus so I can love her the way God wants me to love her.”

The abundant life the Bible talks about isn’t lived in the flesh; it’s lived in the Spirit – this is where a lot of the prosperity gospel is wrong because it entices the flesh when we’re supposed to kill the flesh so we can live truly free in the Spirit.

I woke up feeling really fussy and crummy after yesterday’s migraine – I felt like complaining and not like I wanted to praise God which leads me into more spiritual bondage. I was feeling dull, sad and a lot of self-pity. Finally, God showed me again that He had something for me and to not think about the migraine. He showed me how to choose Jesus again and how doing so is where the abundant Life exists. It is so important that we choose Jesus every day. Doing so enables us to live ABOVE, to live the abundant Life the Spirit has for us.

For the flesh lusteth (wars) against the Spirit, and the Spirit (spiritual liberty) against the flesh (spiritual bondage): and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would (the free, abundant Life in the Spirit).
Galatians 5:17

The thief (Satan loves for us to live in the “flesh” because it keeps us from living the abundant Life the Spirit has for us. A Life of liberty from the flesh and all of its trappings) cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I (Jesus) am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly (there is so much liberty and freedom from this world by living in the Spirit).
John 10:10

Thanking and praising God in all things,

Mark
